Introduction

Welcome to the Skin Tones Module

In this module, you'll learn:

  • How to determine the value of your subject's skin tone
  • How to determine your subject's overall skin tone
  • What undertones are and why they matter
  • How to determine your subject's undertone
  • How to identify olive skin

The lessons in this module will give you a solid idea of what to look for when identifying your model's skin tone and undertone. You will need to know both in order to select the right colors for your paint palette.

Make sure you watch the skin tone mixing demonstration, to see how I mix a variety of colors, values, chroma, and temperatures from the same palette. This ensures the skin tones are harmonious.

And don't forget to download the PDF guide to mixing non-muddy skin tones to help you begin mixing paints to go with your model's skin tone. After you've seen the demonstration video, you'll know how and the download will give you a great variety of combinations you can try.
